Keep the Core Four principles in mind to make sure progress towards success. Here is the third in the series of posts.
An acorn does not have an oak tree in it. Nor does it contain the minerals, energy, or hydration needed to be an oak tree. An acorn contains a blueprint. The blueprint determines how the local resources around it will be added, shaped, and used in the growth process of becoming an oak tree.
You, and the business that you are bringing into the world, also have blueprints. Each day, as you take action, you are determining how the local resources around you and within you will become the fullest expression of success that you desire. The key is action.
In business school, a principle known as “The Law of Reinforcement” says, you get more of what you reinforce. More causation creates more effects. Want more customers? Make more contacts. Want more sales? Ask for more orders. Nothing very mystical there.
The best-selling movie and book, The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne, launched tremendous popularity for a principle known as “The Law of Attraction.” While Rhonda’s work came into social awareness with a bang, and has an air of mysticism to it, but the law is straight-forward. It states that “like attracts like.” In other words, if your business strives to be great, you will attract the opportunities to demonstrate greatness. That’s not too mysterious.
I first heard about the law of attraction in a recording made by Earl Nightingale called, The Strangest Secret. That message, recorded in 1956, was based on an earlier work, Napoleon Hill’s 1937 classic, Think and Grow Rich. Simply stated, the message is this, you will become in life what you spend the most time thinking about.
So, what is the key to success? Is it the Law or Reinforcement or the Law of Attraction? Maybe it is the Law of Cause and Effect! Take action in the direction of your goals, steadily, consistently, and persistently, and you will achieve what you set out to accomplish.
When I first got into business, I knew that I had to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to get where I wanted to go. My wife and I developed a motto: “We have done so much with so little for so long, that now we can do practically anything with practically nothing.”
While sheer determination and grit are important to keep on keeping on, it’s your mindset that keeps you in the game. You can bolster your optimism and your drive to play full-out when you realize that the “Laws” are on your side.
An ancient formula ties all the laws together: A—S—K = Ask and it shall be given, Seek and ye shall find, Knock and it shall be opened unto you. The message is go out into the world and ask for what you want! Keep on it. The Laws will assure you that you will get what you give.
